BI Game - Walkthrough
Walk through the game
You have received a list with user names. We have also created a database for each of your students.
- ⇒ Pick one user name for you.
The file looks like this:
Login to http://www.bi-academy.eu. Use your generic login and password you picked above, such as W18s120 / 23123
After the login, set the field BI Game > Enter your City to Ludwigsburg.
Create a data set
Now, you have two options: create your own data set or use our test data.
Option 1
You can work through the module BI Game – ERP parameter settings and enter your own data. This may take up to 60 min.
- select a location
- order the products
- employ people
- book marketing campaigns
Option 2
You can active some test data, we have already prepared.
- login to the admin component. We have send an user name and password per email to you. The user name sounds like u20_admin, the password like u20_123.
- Select RUN GAME > Run Stored Procedures
- Click on the icon left to Create a default set of data for store Ludwigsburg
- Click on SAVE.
- Select VIEW GAME > View System Message and check, if the stored procedure was successful.
Create a Data Mart
Next, you have to create a Data Mart.
Option 1
Walk through the Hands-Ons. User names, passwords and server name will be printed into the Hands-Ons.
- BI Game – Multidimensional Modeling (60 min)
Option 2
Use the Fast-Track module, which you find at the bottom of the lesson page. User names, passwords and server name will be printed into the Hands-Ons.
- BI-Game-Fallback – Modelling (FastTrack) (10 min)
Run the Data Generator
Next, you can generate the data for the coming year.
- login to the admin component. We have send an user name and password per email to you. The user name sounds like u20_admin, the password like u20_123.
- Select RUN GAME > Run Stored Procedures
- Click on the icon left to Generate data for each store. Game will be locked!
- Click on SAVE.
- Select VIEW GAME > View System Message and check, if the stored procedure was successful.
Create an ETL-Process
Walk through the Hands-Ons.
Option 1
- BI Game – Extraction – Transformation – Load
Option 2
Use the fast track module.
- BI-Game-Fallback – ETL (FastTrack)
OLAP Analysis
- BI Game – OLAP with Excel (PowerPivot) or BI-Game-Fallback – OLAP (FastTrack)
Change your Parameters
- login to the admin component. We have send an user name and password per email to you. The user name sounds like u20_admin, the password like u20_123.
- Select RUN GAME > Run Stored Procedures
- Click on the icon left to Unlock Game!
- Click on SAVE.
- Select VIEW GAME > View System Message and check, if the stored procedure was successful.
- Work through the Hands-Ons BI Game – Change your ERP parameter.
Run the Data Generator again
Next, you can generate the data for the coming year again.
- login to the admin component. We have send an user name and password per email to you. The user name sounds like u20_admin, the password like u20_123.
- Select RUN GAME > Run Stored Procedures
- Click on the icon left to Generate data for each store. Game will be locked!
- Click on SAVE.
- Select VIEW GAME > View System Message and check, if the stored procedure was successful.
Create a Data Cube
Next, you create a Data Cube that contains the data from all stores.
